From the Tagalog for "to caress, to tame" Amu’In was born from the desire to bring into modern-day healing the centuries-old knowledge of the use of plant essences for therapy, restoration and disease prevention.
Understanding how modern-day stress destroys both the body and the spirit, the AMU’IN lines were created to use both the aromatic, as well as the chemical aspects of these natural oils to manage stress and allow the body to heal. The scents balance and empower the emotions, while the chemical compounds fortify and heal the body.
AMU’IN was developed by a team, of spa industry professionals and experienced scientists from the field of cosmetics, organic chemistry and biochemistry led by Ms Cathy Brillantes-Turvill a pioneer in the Philippine and Asia Pacific Spa Industry.
Cathy set a vision of developing a premium Filipino Aromatherapy retail range which could compete with international brands and this led to the conception and creation of AMU’IN with her husband Mike. Mike and Cathy, are owners of Nurture Spa Village -- a destination spa located in Tagaytay and Pampanga; Spa Essentials – a spa products company supplying spa supplies to local and international spa and hotel chains; and Spa Professionals - an internationally licensed spa school and consultancy company.
The team brings into AMU’IN a combined expertise of more than fifty six years developing products and cosmetics for local and international brands:
Cathy Brillantes Turvill, is the founding President of the Spa Association of the Philippines and is driven by a passionate belief in the Philippines and it’s culture. As President of the Spa Association she was responsible for introducing the Philippine healing modality, Hilot, to the global spa industry. Cathy is a qualified (CIBTAC) spa therapist.
Dr. Mike Turvill, a British national, holds a Doctorate in Organic Chemistry from the UK. He studied Aromatherapy in Singapore and was formerly the Asia Pacific Regional Technical Director for Unilever.
Victoria Bulan, President of Siegranz Chemworks Corporation, holds a Masters Degree in Chemistry and has over fifteen years of experience in cosmetics manufacturing.
Renzy Lavador, a licensed Pharmacist, has extensive experience developing body care and cosmetics products for multinational companies.
Odessa Gonzales, a Chemist, brings with her extensive experience in Research and Quality Control.
The AMU’IN range was conceptualized by Cathy Turvill and was enhanced by the Amu’in creative team of Jae Abaya (copywriter), Ariel Dalisay (visual guru) and Josef Ilumin and Kookie Trivino(web gurus).
